Coffee

A place to sit down without hurrying.

On Avenida de Roma the bread stops being a purchase and becomes a morning. Specialty coffee, toast cut from the day's loaf, and a bookshelf nobody is going to police.

The room

Small on purpose.

Twenty-five seats between the room and the terrace under the awning. Enough for the neighbourhood and not enough for a crowd, which is exactly the intention — you can sit for an hour with a book and nobody will look at the table.

The Treego shopfront at Avenida de Roma 28B, with the white awning, the terrace and the terracotta planter.
  • A shelf you can take from

Books for adults and for children that you borrow, take home and swap for others. It works as a small informal neighbourhood library, with no card and no due date.

  • Borrowed walls

The work on the walls is by artists from the neighbourhood and it changes. The space is open to anyone who wants to show — ask at the counter.

  • Bakery one side, coffee the other

Half the space is a bakery counter, with the bread coming from Alvalade and finished in the oven here. The other half is for sitting. You can just take bread and go.

Specialty coffee

Roasted by Sargento Martinho, here in Lisbon.

Beans from Brazil, Kenya and Colombia, as espresso and as filter. If you have the time, order a V60 and watch it happen — it takes about as long as reading the paper.
